世界上飞得最快的喷射机之一，是美国出品的侦察机「洛克希德SR-71」。洛克希德SR-71因其外表乌黑光泽，又有「黑鸟」的别称；设计的主要任务是以高速飞至敌军领空，拍摄他的军事基地。在25公裡高的高空中，「黑鸟」所配备的高性能摄影机，连地面上汽车的车牌都可以清楚地拍摄下来!
「黑鸟」的最高时速记录是每小时3911公裡，大约是音速的3倍；两部引擎的动力比一艘海上巨型客轮还强。1974年9月1日，「黑鸟」展现了它的特殊牲能。它在1小时55分之内，从纽约飞到伦敦，创下飞越大西洋的最快记录(一般客机约需7小时)
1900年，洛克希德SR-71侦察机解除原有的任务，有些军事专家认為，美国空军可能正在研究一种更高速的喷射机，名叫「曙光」，它预计可以昇至离地面30公裡的高空，时速是「黑鸟」的两倍。
SR-71超音速侦察机是由美国洛克希德公司研制的M3高空战略侦察机,于1963年2月开始研制，1964年12月开始试飞，1966年1月交付使用，1990年全部退役。SR-71机体重量的93%為鈦合金，其气动外形為三角翼、双垂尾，发动机布置在机翼上。SR-71有三种改型：A型，战略侦察型，共生產25架﹔B型，教练型，共生產2架﹔C型，由A型改装的教练型。
尺寸数据：翼展16.95米，机长32.74米，机高5.64米，机翼面积167.23平方米，展弦比1.7。
重量数据：最大起飞重量77100千克。
性能数据：最大平飞速度M3.2(3392千米/小时，高度24000米)，巡航速度M3.0(3180千米/小时，高度21000米)，侦察高度24000米，实用升限26600米，活动半径1930千米，航程4800千米，续航时间1.5小时。
